TRANSFER WEEK! And I am staying in Soaring Eagles and 5th Ward with Sister Masima!! We are super duper excited!!
So this week has been FULL of planning!! Lots of planning for exchanges and for Zone Conferences and all that stuff. We have 3 Zones that we cover and so we will be teaching at those 3 Trainings! We will be talking about a particle of faith (Alma 32) and compare it to a mighty change of heart (Alma 5)! We will then cross reference it to (Jeremiah 17: 7-8) and relate it to the Atonement!
We went to Springs Rescue mission again on Wednesday and had a great time! The people there are so sweet! I LOVE doing service!! It is one of the best parts of being a missionary!
We got a new investigator this week!! His name is Uncle Bob and he is great! We met him when we went to a lesson with Linda (our other new investigator!) We taught them in their home about the Plan of Salvation and they both really loved it! until... we taught about the Kingdoms of Glory and then Linda went on a 5 minute rant! She was straight on yelling at me! haha! Then she all of the sudden started praising us and crying and telling us that we need to not ever lose God and all this stuff and then she kissed Sister Masima! hahah! I almost lost it! All I could think was, "please don't kiss me!" hahahaha it was soooo funny!
Oh! And this week, we found out that President Stevenson opened up a new area for Sisters at the very south end of our mission!! It is so south that it is in NEW MEXICO!! It is called Raton! And since we are the Sister Training Leaders for that Stake, we get to go on exchanges there!!!!! Ah! I am so excited! This transfer is going to be a good one:) We are already one week in! I can't believe it!
On Sunday, we were at church from 8:00 - 5:00..... meetings on meetings on meetings! hahaha it was so crazy! The coolest thing happened at church though! Our little 10-year-old investigator, Annagale, walked in about 30 mins into Sacrament meeting! She had her dad drop her off and she came in all by herself! It was so incredible!!! I was so proud of her!
Another great moment this week was when we visited Sister Burns! The name might sound familiar to you cause I taught her in my last area! She moved into the Soaring Eagles Ward right as I got transferred so now I get to keep working with her! I am so excited!!! It felt like home to see her again! She is so ready to go to the temple so we are going to work on getting her there ASAP!! We love her! Such a miracle that she is in my ward again!
So that was our week!!! Super FUN! I want you all to know that I love the Lord! If I didn't I wouldn't be here! There is a video that you should all check out! It is called... "If you love Me, Feed my Sheep" by Elder Holland! It is about 14 minutes long but sooooo good! You should all watch it pleaseeee! I love you guys! You mean the world to me! I truly lucked out with my family and friends!
Have a great week!!!!!!
Such a great week!!!!
We had exchanges in Pueblo on Tuesday with the University Sisters! We all stayed in Pueblo for this exchange since last time we ended up all staying in the Springs. I was with Sister Nielsen!! We began our day by visiting a lady named Kandi! She was raised in the church and baptized but stopped attending soon after. We taught her the Restoration lesson and she began to express that the teachings sounded familiar and rang very true to her! At the end of the lesson, we taught about the Book of Mormon and asked if she would like a copy. She looked at us and then ran out of the room.. a few minutes later, she returned with a dusty old quad Book of Mormon set. It was wrapped in a floral case with little ruffles. She smiled and said, This was mine when I was eight." She began to open it and her face lit up. She started to find scriptures that she had highlighted and once loved and began to pull little primary quotes out of her quad. I was so overwhelmed by the Spirit! It was so sweet to see her soooo happy! It's moments like those that make missions soooo worth it!
We also visited a lady named Violet! She is in her 90's and is seriously so cute!! She asked me to help her type up some recipes and I agreed since I love to type! I was thinking I'd be using an old clunky computer.. but I walked into her kitchen and saw an old typewriter! It was sweet! I got to use it but then the ink ran out so I had to hand write the recipes instead. But I have officially decided that I NEED a typewriter!!!!
We did a lot more stop-bys and had back to back lessons for the rest of the night!
The best thing that day was going to Karen's house! She is a sweet sweet lady! We walked in and the Relief Society President was there and was helping Karen to rearrange her furniture! We all pitched in and they asked me my "professional design opinion!" hahah and the best part was that "Fixer Upper" was on in the background! ahhhh! I almost died! It made me soooo trunky! hahha I tried not to watch it though cause OBEDIENCE! hahah
That night, we had a lesson with a guy Hector! He is AMAZING! His girlfriend is a member and he wants to be baptized! It was our first lesson with him and was hands down the best Restoration lesson that I have ever been a part of!! Sooo powerful!
On Wednesday, we went to the Springs Rescue Mission again and one of the volunteers named Jared, asked us if we'd like to go get coffee with him. We told him that we don't drink coffee but that we love hot chocolate! He also mentioned that we looked "very beautiful" haaha he is actually a really nice guy! So we took the Elders with us and a couple other volunteers and went to Starbucks for some hot chocolate! The Elders kept joking with us and telling us that we were on a date with Jared haha but it actually really was a great missionary opportunity!
Thursday, we met a new potential investigator named Nicole!! So that's exciting!! She is a single mom with two little kids and is from Utah! She said that missionaries would always come to her house there and so when she started to struggle here in Colorado, she knew exactly who to call! ahhhhh! I love her already!
Friday was pretty regular! District meeting, lunch at the Hammonds, (where we had tacos) and LOTS of appointments! We planned for our upcoming Zone Conferences (we cover 3 ZONES!!) so that was exciting! We read the Book of Mormon with 4 people and I felt the Spirit so strong each time!!! I just absolutely love the Book of Mormon! I know that it is true! I am so grateful for it! We had a sweet lesson with Annagale and her official date is March 25th! Mom, it would be so awesome if you could make another little bear for her like you did for Eliana and Isaac! I think she'd love it!
Saturday we saw Sister Rizzo, and also Amber! Amber is great! We brought a member to her lesson and it was so powerful!! Members at lessons makes all the difference! We picked up Laura (A laurel in one of our wards) and then headed to a lesson with Linda and Uncle Bob! Laura laughed a lot in the lesson but kept it together pretty good! hahah Linda is a crazy one! We love her! At the beginning of the lesson (The Gospel of Jesus Christ!) Linda was very jittery.. and by the end she was calm and in tears. The Spirit had touched her heart! We invited her to be baptized and with tear-filled eyes she said, "I will pray to know if God wants me to!" YAY!!!
That night we had dinner at the Severe's home! They served a broccoli salad that was soooo good! So yea, I like broccoli now!!! Their little boy was so funny! He kept pulling our pony tails and putting his arms around us! hahah and the APs just laughed at us! hahah!
We also met with Sister Smiley that night! AH! I just love her so much! She is the greatest!!!!
SUCH A GREAT WEEK!
On Sunday we taught the YW lesson and talked to the girls all about Heavenly Father and how they can strengthen their relationship with him! It was so great! I loved being there cause it reminded me of Sister Madsen and Sister Crotts! They made such a huge impact in my life and I loved being on the other side and helping the YW!
So yea!!! I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!
I know that the gospel is true! It is my greatest blessing!!!
I love you all so much! Oh a Kate has informed me that I have 324 days to go!!!! So I'll see y'all real soon!
Hey fam! I love you all sooo much!
This week was sooo BUSY! We had Two Zone Conferences and then exchanges in NM!!! Our first Zone Conference was on Tuesday! We had two zones there and taught at both training sessions. So we basically did a full our of teaching that day!! It was so fun! At the end of the conference, we called all 50 of the missionaries together and passed our little paper swords. Then we asked each of them to write something on their sword that they are willing and wanting to give up while they are on their missions! Then we placed our swords in a little wooden box that I found at Hobby Lobby;) and I handed the box to President Stevenson to keep on his desk! It was symbolic of "Burying our weapons of war/rebellion!" It went really well and I think that everyone really enjoyed the activity!
President Fredrickson came as well (my stake president from my last area) and he talked about me in his comments and mentioned that he went to Salt Lake and saw my missionary plaque in the case at our church! He said that it made his day! I just LOVE him!
On Wednesday we got to see Annagale and Yvette! (Yvette is a recent convert that is now Annagale's fellowshipper:)) We played a little game with them that we made up right on the spur of the moment and it turned out to be soooo funny! We also got a new investigator this week! His name is AJ!!! He grew up his entire life in the church and was never baptized but he always assumed that he was! So now he is getting baptized! ahhhh! I am so happy for him! He is 19 and Samoan! He is the coolest! His date is March 3rd, but we are thinking that we will move it up!
On Thursday we woke up early, packed our things, and drove an hour down to Pueblo! We had another Zone Conference! This time with just one zone! We taught again and it went so well! We did the sword activity again too and the missionaries loved it. After we finished the conference, we drove another hour or so down to Trinidad CO (the sex-change capital of the world!) and went to the Sister's apartment there and exchanged (for this exchange though, we all stayed in Trinidad and just switched companions)! That night, we drove across the CO border to Raton, NM! We did some work there and it was wild! Soooo different from the Springs! We went looking for a trailer in a trailer park and the numbers were all kinds of messed up! It went from 7 to 256 to 13 to 151.. hahah then we saw a sign that said, "Do not walk here or else!!" So we left! That night, we heard gunshots! It was crazy! I was just laying on my little mattress on the floor and then... "pop pop pop pop pop pop!" It sounded like a few streets away which was good! When we told the Sisters about it they said, "don't worry, we hear that all the time!" I said a mighty good prayer that night and asked God to keep me safe!!!
The next day, we did some stop-bys since it is not safe to tract. We tried to stop by this one lady and it fell through so we decided to look through the former investigators tab of their area book. Sister Mercer (my comp for the day) found a lady named Yvonne from 4 years ago! So we stopped by. Turns out that she'd been praying for help and then we showed up! She was about to lose her house and needed somewhere to go.. so we put her in touch with the Branch President and he helped her. We shared a video with her that brought her to tears and gave her a Book of Mormon since she hadn't had one in 4 years! She bawled and hugged us sooo tight! It was such a miracle!!! Then we went on a long drive to find a less-active family.. they weren't home but the drive was worth our time! It was gorgeous!!!!!! We got to the top of a mountain that was covered in thick pines and looked out over a turquoise blue lake!
Saturday we were SOOOO DILIGENT! and miracles came! We went out at 10:00 and did not come home until 9:30! We didn't even eat dinner until 8:30!! Shout out to WENDY'S! We met with Sister Wade, then Sister Burns, then Nicole, then Annalee, then we went to a baptism in the 18th ward!! (remember my miracle story about tracting on exchanges from back in December.. the one where we set a specific time and we found the lady at exactly that time? Well, her name is Mary and she got baptized on Saturday!!!!!!) MIRACLES! Then we met with Berta! And then Annagale and then we saw Linda! Linda is so awesome!! She is one of our newest investigators! And... she set a baptism date for the 24th of FEB! Ah! We were not expecting it and when we went there on Saturday she totally shocked us when she said, "I want to get baptized!" i am sure my jaw dropped! hahah I am so happy! Also.. Linda told us that "uncle bob" isn't her uncle... don't even get me started on that! hahahaha
Next we went to see the McCaslins and then to the Johnstons.. then drove through Wendy's! lol and finally went to Sister Smileys! The Spirit was so strong as we read with her! We love her so much!! I can't wait for y'all to meet Sister Smiley some day!
Sunday!!!! MIRACLES!!!! So we called Linda that morning to see if she wanted to come to church! On Saturday, at our lesson, we decided that we would give Linda a call Sunday morning and see if she would like a ride to church and she agreed. She told us that she had to go into work on Sunday morning but that she was hoping to be done by the time church started. So when we called... No answer.. We tried again.. No answer.. So we decided to drive to her work (this was like 15 mins before church was starting) She wasn't at her work, and her boss said that she had just left. Since Linda doesn't have a car, we figured that she must have been walking. So we drove from her work to her house and I was on the lookout the whole time for Linda walking along the street. We didn't see her but finally got to her house! No one was home.. So we started driving back to the church. Sister Masima began to drive the wrong way back and I was pretty confused.. but just went with it. (btw, this whole time I am just praying that we will find her!) All of the sudden, WE SEE LINDA! She was walking along the side of the road! I rolled down my window and yelled, "Linda!!!" She was so happy to see us! We called a member who immediately came and picked her up and we all went to church together! MIRACLES!!! We literally went the extra mile and we found her!!!!!! She loved church and everyone was so sweet to her! I know that Heavenly Father prepared a way for us to find Linda and get her to church! And I am so grateful that we decided to drive around until we found her! The Spirit was definitely guiding our every turn!
That night, we had dinner with Sister Wade and Sister Kleven! It was so fun! Another 5 course meal! hahah! I am so grateful for members!!!
On Tuesday this week, I was in the 18th ward on exchanges with Sister Siufanua!!! We had so much fun! And.. the craziest thing happened. So we got a referral for a guy named James and we stopped by to meet him. When we knocked the door whipped open and there was James all big and shirtless and hairy.. it was mega awkward and we just tried to not look... hahah. He yelled at us and told us to go away so we did. Then about 10 minutes later, we get a call from the Salt Lake City Elders. They asked if we had just seen James and we said yes, then they said that James messaged Salt Lake immediately after we left and asked for us to come back. The Elders told us that they gave James our number and that he would be in touch with us. then *ding* our phone has a text from James. "Hi Ladies, I would love to have your company this afternoon, please let me know if you can come back today?" we were both kinda like.... "uhhhhhh.. thanks a lot salt lake elders..." So anyway, we went back but brought the Elders with us from the area. James was very interesting.. actually it was horrible, the feeling in his apartment was straight up satanic! haha. don't worry, we got out of there and then we found out that he has met with missionaries before and that they were told by the previous mission president to block his number and to never go there! hahaha.... Crazy mission experience!
Wednesday we had MLC!! it was really fun! I will attach a pic of the Mission Leadership Council at the bottom! They are the greatest! In the 6-hour-long meeting, we pretty much discuss the needs that we have as a mission and go over policies and then set goals! That took up most of our day and then we finished up our night with a few appointments and dinner!
THURSDAY... aka Weekly Planning ALL DAY LONG!! We didn't get to weekly plan last week because of exchanges in Raton, so we did "double duty" this week. It was fun though! We are looking forward to the final two weeks of this transfer! 5 exchanges to go! haha! We went to lunch with an awesome member named Chee and he said that he will cook at my wedding! hahahah!!! He made us p.o.g. chicken and it was so good! I brought my onion/strawberry salad and Sister Masima made a cake! It was tons of fun! That night we visited the Hergenreder Fam and their dogs, Chia and Cooper, kept kissing each other! haha it was so hilarious and Sister Hergenreder was just cracking us up! Honestly the members here are so funny!
Friday we had district meeting and then had our weekly lunch at the Hammonds and they served Cafe Rio! They are my favorites! I can't wait for you all to meet them! They are the sweetest Senior Missionary couple EVER! We got a call from Berta on Saturday and she was struggling so we went to help her and then had dinner with Sister Tekurio and she served Hamburgers! AHHHH So good! We also visited a sweet family in the evening and their son Brayden was a character! He invited us to his baptism and then played a song for us that he learned on the piano. It was a very spiritual lesson in their home, the husband is not a member so it was nice to visit with him and talk about the Book of Mormon.
Friday night we started EXCHANGES!! I went to Broadmoor (Home;)) with Sister McArthur, who was in the MTC with me!!, and we had so much fun!!!
Saturday we went out to work early in the day! We did a stop-by/referral and got a new investigator for them and then stopped by Kelsey who is a lady that I taught when I was there. The Sisters haven't been able to get in touch with her so I figured that I would stop by. Kelsey lit up and gave me a huge hug. She told us that she will be moving with her husband to Hawaii soon and that she has a baptismal date planned for when she arrives! AH! I was shocked and sooo happy! I told he that she needs to keep coming to church before they move and she agreed. It was such a great moment to see her again and to hopefully give her some motivation. Then we visited a lady named Diana. She told us that she is a wanna-be Hippie! Oh man, I just loved her! We taught a very powerful restoration lesson and she told us that she is ready to be baptized! SO EXCITING!
When we walked outside after that BOMB lesson. there was a blizzard! We booked it to the car and brushed it all off (about 6 inches). I started driving very carefully and it kept coming down. On our way to our next appointment, we got a call that our car needed to be parked immediately because of the snow. So we headed home and barely made it up the hill (thank goodness I know how to drive in snow!) It started going even harder when we got home and so we studied and talked for a while. Before we knew it, we were soooo bored and so we walked over to the church to watch some Mormon Messages:) good time! That night we were able to get to our dinner and it was a little fondu party with the Broadmoor ward! It was so nice to see everybody! This ward is family to me!
NOW HERE'S THE BEST PART! The snow was so bad that we couldn't exchange back so we were stuck together another night! hahah and.. I got to go to the Broadmoor Ward on Sunday and also the Cheyenne Meadows Ward! All of the members looked so confused to see me back! hah. I saw Sister and Brother Jones, the Wilhelms, the Catons, the Blamires, the Sisneros, the Taylors, the Babcocks! All of my favs! Oh and LYNN AND CHANCE!!! It was a dream! Eliana wasn't able to make it to church because she was sick so after our meetings and after our dinner with the Maddox Fam we went to the Sisneros to visit Eliana! She bawled and it made my night! Ah! that sounds weird to say but she was just so sweet and hugged me so tight! The Sisneros are doing great! They are so active and the mom is now working towards baptism! I can't wait to see this family sealed in the temple someday!!
We also got to stop-by Steven and it was great to see him! He could use your prayers please!
That night, we drove very carefully back to my area and stayed the night with all four of us at our place so that I could wear some fresh clothes.
These few days have been some of the best from my mission! It was so crazy and the snow was so beautiful! It is starting to melt as I am typing this out and I think that it is supposed to be back up to the 60s by tomorrow or Wednesday.
I am so grateful for my mission! I am learning so much from the experiences that I am having and I know that I will reflect on this time in my life for ETERNITY!
I love you all! The Gospel is true!!!
Hey my amazing Fam!
well first of all, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!!
This week went by soooo fast! We had two more exchanges which always makes the days fly!
So on Tuesday I had some great studies about the Book of Mormon! I am putting together a Book of Mormon map and so I will send it to you when I am done!! I am learning so much and it feels like everything is getting pieced together! AH! I love that book! It is so incredible how true it is!
Valentine's Day was exchanges!!! I was with Sister Welch in my area for the day and we had so much fun! Since it was V-day we decided to buy a dozen roses and then we went with the Assistants to a bunch of ladies in our ward that are widows and gave them out! It was so much fun! Then for our dinner appointment, we went to the Frandson's and they gave us the sweetest gifts for valentines! And listen to how fun this is, for our lesson with them we gave them hearts to write scriptures on and then we committed them to heart attack someone that very night! And they did!!! It was so fun!
We also went to Springs Rescue Mission on Valentine's day! We go there once a week and help the members of the homeless shelter sign up for showers and to do laundry. We spent about 2 hours filling up little containers with body wash for their showers and we both became a soapy mess! It was a good time though and we made some fun memories!
For District Meeting this week, I taught about Testimony!! Here is a little tid bit of what I shared.
In Alma 4:19 , Alma speaks of "Bearing Down in Pure Testimony" Then in chapter 5.. he shows us how that is done.. so here are the 5 steps of Bearing Down in Pure Testimony....
1. Declare who you are and by what authority you have
2. Make your testimony personal
3. Testify of truth and ask inspired questions
4. Let them know where the source of truth comes
5. Invite to act
It is found in the entire chapter (Alma 5) go look for it!!!!
And I will give more info about it in my next email if you want! These are things that make our testimony more powerful as we share it! I love the Book of Mormon!! AHHH!
ALSO, AJ is getting baptized so we have been working with him all week!!!! He gets baptized on the 24th at 4:00!!!! SO exciting! Here is some background on AJ, so he grew up all his life thinking that he had been baptized and never actually was.. he knows everything about the church but since he is just learning english, we are re-teaching him! It is so awesome!!!!
And for some more exciting news!!!!! Lynn is getting Married to Chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhh! And I am her maid of honor! This will be my first time! I can't believe that it is while I am on my mission but hey, it's exciting nevertheless.. I called our Mission President to ask for his permission to go to the wedding and all of that and to be a maid of honor and he just laughed and said, "yes you can go! I never thought I would receive a call like this from a Sister Missionary on her mission!" hahaha
To end the week, we had exchanges with the Academy Sisters! Sister Walker and I had so much fun! We taught Linda again... oh my she is so funny! We taught the Word of Wisdom last time and this time when we walked in, Linda had little tea cups set out for us. Then she says, "Hi miss Ladies, would you like some tea?" we responded, "no thank you Linda, we don't drink tea." and she goes, "oh yea, me neither!" hahahahah! Ok, so I know it was one of those things where you had to be there, but Linda is just so hilarious and kinda all over the place at times that it just makes us laugh so hard!
Honestly, time is flying.. it felt like this week was a couple of hours long! For those of you who are wondering.. Transfers are in a week and we think that Sister Masima will be leaving. I am excited to meet someone new but will miss her lots! So we will see what happens!
On Sunday we got a new investigator named Nicole who has two little kids! We are so excited to start working with her!
Well, that was my week! So sorry for this email that is all over the place..... lol
I love you all so much and I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true! These next 9 months are going to be the best! I can't wait to continue to work hard and give my all to the Lord!!!!!!
THIS WEEK WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!
Well, first things first.. transfers are tomorrow and I am NOT getting transferred! But, Sister Masima is so I will be with Sister Brown in a couple days! YAYYY! I am so excited! I hear that she likes to exercise and run so you can count on me loosing 10lbs hopefully!!!!!
Also, I apologize if this email is super short compared to my others... it won't happen again.. but we have SOOO much to do for transfers tomorrow!
So for last p-day, we went with Lynn and Chance to Garden of the Gods and it was a blizzard outside.. At first I was pretty nervous about going there in that kind of weather.. but it turned out to be the best thing we ever did! The red rocks with the white snow was soooo pretty! I have tons of pics that Lynn took! But she hasn't sent them yet... so they will be comin' atcha next week!!
We had a great exchange with the Canon City sisters on Tuesday and we found a new investigator!!! Her name is Maria and she is so GOLDEN!!!!! Sadly, with this new transfer, They are putting new sisters into 5th ward so we will only be over soaring eagles.. but these new sisters will have a spankin new investigator to work with!!! So exciting!
Later on in the week, we had exchanges with Mesa Ridge sisters (our 8th and last exchange for the transfer) and it was awesome!!! I was with Sister Bass from the MTC and we had so much fun! We met with AJ for his final lesson and it was awesome! He is so ready!!!!
NOW FOR THE GOOD PART! THE BAPTISM!
So AJ was baptized on Saturday and we arrived an hour early to check on the Elders who were filling the font and to give AJ his jumpsuit! When we got there, the font was filled about 3 inches.... and usually the thing takes about 2 or more hours to fill.. The Elders said that they had been there for 2 hours already and so Elder Towery checked things out to see what was wrong.. and.... we found a leak. Bummer.. We got it fixed about 20 mins to baptism time and the font started to fill... it was not going to fill in time though and we knew that.. so our pianist played for 30 mins as we all ran back and forth from the bathroom to the font with tubs of water to get the font filled... I went out into the room for a bit to welcome people and I could just hear all this sloshing from the closed doors of the font! it was so funny and everyone was just sitting there listening to all of us running around in the back! lol
Eventually we decided to start and when AJ went in to be baptized, the water barely came to his thighs.. When Lucra went to dunk him, only his body went down and not his head.. So we tried again.. This time, Lucra lowered him down soooo slowly and AJ hit his head on the side of the Font.... lol and then he barely went under the water.. and then... Lucra held him there for about 10 seconds and we were all just screaming to let him up! it was honestly the funniest thing! But it did the job! AH good memories!
So today is kinda sad cause it is my last day with sister masima... :( it will be good though to meet a new companion! changes are the only constant in missionary work!
Well Fam! I want you all to know that I have a testimony of this great gospel! It is TRUE! I love you all so much! Have the most wonderful week !!!!!!! OH AND PS... HALFWAY THIS WEEK Y'ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am officially over the hill!!!!!!!
What a great week!!!!! Transfers was on Tuesday and I got SISTA BROWN!!!!! Whenever she introduces herself she says, "I'm Sister Brown, like the color!" I love her so much!!!!!!
Our first day together we spent $180 dollars ($90 each) on groceries so I am hoping that they will last us for a while.... lol! We have been cooking like pro chefs this whole week! I will attach some pictures! it has been a blast! And we are doing soo good with exercises! I have lost 5 lbs! WHAT?!?!
Wednesday was my official halfway mark! 9 MORE MONTHS!! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN SO FAST?!?! I honestly am blown away at how quickly time flies. We had a great first full day together! We set a goal that we wanted to talk to a Mexican lady that was wearing blue and poor in spirit and we found her!!!! It was amazing! Setting specific goals really works! Oh and we are no longer covering 5th ward so we've been having a bunch of transition lessons with the new Sisters. I said goodbye to the Hergenreders on Wednesday night and we did a quick transition lesson with them.... it was so sad:( Brother Hergenreder almost cried and said, "We love you sweetheart!" it just melted my heart! I love them so much!
Ok now I have to share the funniest memory with Sister Brown! We came home one evening and Sister Brown ran into our walk-in closet. She began pulling out a bunch of my clothes and trying them on and doing a fashion show for me! As soon as she would put a dress on she would twirl around the room and fling herself on the bed! i was crying from laughter! it was so funny I wish I could have recorded the whole thing for you all to see!
Here are some facts about Sister Brown! She is from Jarome Idaho, she loves to run and hike! She is a country girl and loves country music and texas roadhouse (so we get along very well) and she is the most hilarious and down to earth person EVER! I LOVE HER!
On Friday we had our first district meeting of the transfer and afterwards we got some lunch and ate outside on the sidewalk cause it was 60 degrees! So it was basically lunch and tanning! SOOOO NICE! I heard it snowed in utah... 15 inches?!?! So sad:( Wish y'all were here! That night we went to dinner at the Black Bear Diner because a member works there. It was such a fun night!
On Saturday we got massages from Sister Kleven in our ward and then had a full day of appointments! It was so fun! We met with Linda and she told us that she'll never be baptized but we just bore simple testimony to her. She began to cry during the closing prayer and told us that she wants to work towards baptism. I know that it was because she felt the Spirit. It was so amazing!
Another funny story with Sister Brown.. So I made Sister Brown a caramel milkshake and she got all excited. But right as I gave it to her I said, "this is a BBQ milkshake." She just looked at me like I was crazy and kept smelling it and saying, "ew, it smells like BBQ sauce." when I finally told her the truth, she wouldn't believe me. she finally drank it but was still convinced that it was BBQ flavored. lol! It was so funny! Then, that night she started doing handstands and walking all over the house! AH I just love her so much!
Well, I love you all and I know that this gospel is true! I am watching it change lives and it is so incredible! Thank you for your prayers and for all that you do for me! Have a great week!!!!!!!!
SO last P-day was so much fun! Sister Brown and I went to Manitou alone since everyone else bailed on us last minute! It was so much fun! We drank from the mineral water fountains.. (nasty!) and then each bought a t-shirt! It was so much fun!
OK!!! BEST PART OF THE WEEK! I got to have a sleepover with SISTER TAYLOR before temple jubilee!!!! Best thing ever!
On Thursday I went to Temple Jubilee! It was am amazing experience! We started the day off by going to Costa Vida and then headed to the temple! We were there for about 5-6 hours! It was heavenly! Best experience and I felt so much peace as I was there! We got to have dinner at the mission home after and do a testimony meeting and then set goals for the rest of our missions! It was such a fun time! I can't believe that my mission is half-way over! I know that this next 9 months is gonna fly so I am gonna soak in every second!
On Friday we taught district meeting and we talked about the Saviors Perfect love to us! We watched a Bible Video (the one where the guard's ear is cut off and Jesus heals it!) It was so powerful and I have to thank Mike for the awesome idea! It was such a great day! The spirit was so powerful and I felt that my testimony of Jesus Christ grew so much! I know that he is my Savior and yours and that he loves us and died for us! I am so grateful for the knowledge that I have of this gospel and of the perfect plan that God has created for us!
To end the week, we had exchanges with the Academy Sisters! Such a blast! I was with Sister Bocanegra but we call her Sister Boci for short! She was just a bundle of energy and we had so much fun together!
Annagale's baptism and Lynn's wedding are in two weeks! SOOO EXCITING! I am so happy! We are seeing so many miracles! I know that the Lord is blessing us so much and that we will continue to see miracles! The Lord prepares his vineyard that is for sure!!!!!!
Well, I love you all so much! Have an incredible week and remember to read and pray! Those are the things of most importance!
hey my fam!
This week was a great one!!!
We taught zone conference on Wednesday! We read with our zone from the Book of Mormon! Alma Chapter 26 which is all about missionary work! I challenge all of you to read it and look for ways that you can apply the teachings and examples to you!
It was a pretty stressful week with everything and on Thursday we had no dinner so we treated ourselves to some texas roadhouse!!! MY FAV! It was so bomb! And I ate 7 rolls!!!! then I lost 5 lbs.. i don't understand my body! hahaha!
So here is my fav experience of the entire week!!!
This week we had a dinner appointment with the Mann's. Sister Mann came out from the kitchen right as we got there and said, "will you sisters do something with me, right now?" we were kinda confused but followed her down the street to her neighbor's house. On the way, she explained that these were her new neighbors and that they told her they were looking for a church. She rang the bell, handed the woman a plate of cookies with a little welcome note and invited her to church! Then, she introduced us, we shared with her our purpose and got her number so that we can set up an appointment with her in the near future and also help her and her family move in! I LOVE MEMBERS! It was so amazing! I believe that they are the key to missionary work!
Then later that night, with the same sweet couple, we sang happy birthday to Sister Mann's mom, (she is in a mental care facility in Washington) and we ate birthday cake for her! It was the cutest thing!!!! ahh!
On St. Patrick's day we had exchanges with the 5th Ward Sisters and I was with Sister Hyer! We just had wayyyy to much fun! We met with Linda again and the spirit that was there was so different from anything else that I have ever experienced! Linda was calm for the first time and cried at everything we said. It was crazy spiritual! Then she told us that she wants to be baptized! I was blown away!!!!! I love being a missionary!
As for some other news.. Sister Burns will be going to the temple on the 7th of April!!! She is the lady I have been teaching my whole mission! She moved areas with me:) I am so excited for her!! And Lynn and Chance get married this week!!!!! So many exciting things are happening! I am so excited:)
I want each of you to know that I have a testimony of this great gospel!!!! I love the Lord with all my heart and I love serving him! Thank you all for being so suportive and loving! I miss you all!!!! 8 more months!!!!
