This week I went on Exchanges again in my old area! Good Ole Broadmoor! I miss it! It is always a nice treat to go back! I was with Sister Hekking:) she is a hoot! The whole day, we drove around with the window down and Sister Hekking would yell. "hello out there! we are missionaries!" all in a British accent! hahah! It was hilarious! We visited a few people that I knew when I was there! Like Sister Beyers and Katie! It was sooo cool to see Katie cause we were able to convince her to pray aloud for the first time:) SO PROUD OF HER! It was great! We also stopped by the Sisneros home and Eliana broke into tears when she saw me which just made my whole day! I adore here! And the Sisneros told me that they are naming their new baby Lilliana Abigail!!! but shhhhhh don't tell anyone cause it's a secret! Aww. I love them! We got KFC for dinner from a member and it totally wrecked me.. I felt nauseated the rest of the night.. but it was worth it cause that chicken was BOMB! That night, right before we exchanged back, we visited the Wilhelm's.. they are moving in a few months so we said our goodbyes and I got lots of cute pics with the kiddos! I just love them all so much!
On Friday, we went to help set up for Lynn and Chance's wedding. The venue was beautiful and so perfect for their theme! They kinda went for a rustic theme with lots of white and then blue and pink flowers! I promise it didn't look like a baby shower! haha! We got it all decorated and then went to dinner with a member at Panda Express!!! good day!
Saturday!! SHOW TIME!! So that morning we had the baptism for Annagale! Sister Brown and I got to the church a little after 7:00 to start the font and to our surprise, there were some men there cleaning who had already started it for us!! Blessings! The baptism went well! Annagale's family are all less-active and her dad is not a member, but they all participated in the baptism and then they accepted an invitation to meet with us, like their whole family did! WAHOO! Anna looked so dang cute! She wore a little white dress to be baptized in and was all nervous before! She looked so angelic! My swig cookies were gone real fast so that was fun and then we headed back into the kitchen to frost the rest of the cookies for the wedding.
We met up with Sister Hekking and Sister McArthur and drove up to Monument for the wedding! When we got there, we got all ready and stated doing some finishing touches! An hour later, Lynn showed up and we rushed her upstairs to get ready! we got her into her dress and she looked stunning! Ah! I was just blown away! Sister Anderson and Sister Allen were there as Bridesmaids and then I was in a different dress as the maid of honor! But we all wore white! It was so lovely!
The ceremony was so beautiful! It was outdoors and everyone sat on hay bales. There was a little bit of wind but it was really no big deal! When Lynn walked down the aisle, Chance started to cry! It was so special to see two of my best friends getting married! And in a year from now, they will be getting sealed! yay!
The reception was beautiful! Lynn danced with her dad and then with Chance and I totally cried! Then they did a few wedding games and I gave a little toast followed by the best man. Then Lynn threw the bouquet and Sister Allen fought for it so hard... she ended up getting it but all is good. hahaha it was hilarious!
Lynn and Chance were so happy and looked so in love the whole day! I love them both so much and was so blessed to be part of their special day! Shout out to President Stevenson for making it happen!
That night, Sister Brown and I soaked our feet in the tub and then Sister Brown fell in. haha then I got pulled in and we ended up in a bubble bath together! Don't worry, we were clothed but it was just so funny!!!! I LOVE HER!
Sunday was great! We went to church and then headed to an appointment that we had set with a less-active family. When we got to their apartment to meet them for the first time, the husband told us that it wasn't a good time.. So we walked back to our car. On the way back I noticed a group of guys talking around their car and the Spirit whispered to me, "give them a Book of Mormon." I didn't have one on me at the moment but we had a whole trunk full so we got in the car and pulled around next to them. I rolled down my window. I said, "hey! have you ever heard of the Book of Mormon?" and then I started to have a gospel conversation with them! I told them about the Book of Mormon and that we were handing out free copies! They all wanted one! So we handed out 4 Book of Mormons all at once and they all seemed so happy to have this additional witness of Jesus Christ! We opened the book and read with them since our goal is to never give away a closed Book of Mormon! They took our card and promised to call us! Then we noticed a young man standing a few yards away, we walked over to him and handed him a Book! We bore testimony and taught a few principles from PMG! Then he asked us to pray with him! It was amazing! He asked us to come back and to teach him some more! So that was a crazy experience! I have never had something like that happen before. When we got in the car Sister Brown asked me why I stopped to talk to them and I told her about the strong prompting that I had! She then told me that she had the same exact prompting! It was a testimony builder for me for sure!
Well! It was one of the best weeks ever! I hope you can tell by this email that it was AWESOME!!! I will send wedding pics and baptism pics!!!! Love you all! I just want to leave you with my testimony. I know this gospel is true! I know that Jesus Christ lives and that he died for each one of us! I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon is true! And I know this because the Holy Ghost has born witness to me of the truthfulness of these things! I love this gospel with all of my heart and I love being a missionary!
What a wonderful week!!!!! So I have been battling HORRIBLE allergies all week... and I mean HORRIBLE! But that didn't stop me from having the best week ever! Conference was so amazing and much needed!
I felt so much love from our Heavenly Father this conference! I was thrilled to hear all of the changes that were made! I felt so strongly that this is exactly what we need at this time to further the work of the Lord and to prepare for his coming!
I was very impressed by Elder Bednar's talk about Meekness. I feel that meekness is something that I desperately need to develop within myself. I loved the simple examples that he shared of people in the world and throughout history that have clearly developed this attribute. It is one of the Saviors most crowing characteristics and I so badly desire to have it as well.
I was so happy to hear that India will be receiving a temple! How awesome is that! I could just imagine the whole Morgan family shouting for joy! It will be so awesome! I guess we will have to make a trip to India!!!! How cool would that be?!?
Overall it was just such a fun Easter! We watched Conference with the Mitchell family and they totally spoiled us rotten! They had Easter baskets for us and even did an Easter egg hunt for us and the Elders and their kids! Brother Mitchell hid two golden eggs and one of them had 5 dollars in it!! Of course Sister Brownie found that one.....
Also I need to make a shout out to Sister Brown for taking such good care of me and for staying up with me all night as I coughed and sneezed my guts out!! lol...
I want to bear my testimony of the Savior with it being this beautiful Easter season! I truly know without question of doubt that Jesus Christ is my perfect and resurrected Savior! He is the most precious gift that we have ever received. He has perfect and infinite love for each one of us and this because he took upon himself all of our pains, sorrows, afflictions, sadness, and sins. He is full of mercy and peace and is constantly calling out to each of us. His Atoning sacrifice changes lives! I know this because I am watching lives change now!! There are so many people that I have met that are poor in spirit and feel that they have no future and no purpose but the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Atonement of Jesus Christ change all of that! I am so grateful for him!!!! To all those who have not yet come to know him.. please do. Please come unto him and learn of him and love him, because as you do, your life will be changed forever! I can promise you that with absolute certainty!
I love you all! Have a wonderful week!!!!! and thank you fam for the sweet Easter package! I loved it! HAPPY EASTER! HE IS RISEN!
Hello my Family! So I found out earlier this week that I will be transferring to be a Sister Training Leader in Pueblo! I am beyond sad to be leaving Sister Brown... But I have hope that we will one day be companions again haha!
Ok, I first need to tell y'all about last p-day!!!! Oh my it was so fun! We went to an escape room with our district. Basically you just get locked in a room and then you have to solve puzzles and clues to get yourself out. It was so much fun! We did one room in about 33 mins! The guy that owns the place, (he is a member!!) he said that it was one of the fastest times EVER! he then gave us the option to do another room! So we said yes! This room was harder but we were able to figure it out with about 12 mins left! It was so much fun! Elder Garton (our AP) kept using the walkie talkie and talking all deep and stuff! We were laughing so hard!
Wednesday!!! MLC again! Wow, I feel like I was just at MLC like yesterday! Time flies! We were trained there about how to use smartphones in our missionary work and I will be receiving mine in just a few days most likely! It is an exciting time to be a missionary.
The highlight of Thursday was having dinner with Roz and Tom Hanson! We did a Prayer puzzle with them and they could not figure it out! It was so hilarious! I am going to miss Roz so much! She is the greatest! She lets us do laundry at her place and we email there too! I don't know what I would do without her! So shoutout to Roz for feeding us and loving us and for having the cutest little puppy ever! (muffin! p.s. muffin pees on the floor whenever I walk in the room) lol
This week we also had exchanges with the 18th Sisters! Sister Rentz was with me in our area! She is a doll! I love her! We had such a great time! We spent some time and visited Linda! Aww gotta love her! We talked with her for a bit and she cried when she heard I was being transferred... Then I said, "Linda, have you thought any more about baptism?" she said, "Yes, I know that God wants me to be baptized." And we replied, "Well, how about we set a new date for your baptism day?" She got so excited and immediately said, "How about May 12th!" So MAY 12th it is!!! I love to see miracles!
Saturday was THE BEST! We went to the temple with Sister Burns! She was someone that I worked with in the Broadmoor ward and she moved to Soaring Eagles right when I did! Such a tender mercy!!! The Lord just knew that we needed to stay together! Going to the temple with her for her first time was such a wonderful and spiritual experience! I am so grateful for her in my life! She was absolutely glowing the entire time! Afterwards we went to dinner with the group that went through with her! She had some friends come from out of state who are members of the church. They befriended her 30 years ago and planted a seed. Look how their kindness has changed her life. I have a testimony of member missionary work. It doesn't even need to be huge gestures it can be as simple as befriending someone and being a good example to them and bearing testimony in simple ways.
Sunday was sad, it was the day that I had to say my goodbyes to the ward.. I am going to miss that place! I am especially going to miss my dear Sister, Sister Brown. She is literally the greatest person I have ever met! She loves everyone and gives 10/10 hugs! I am so grateful for all of the memories we have shared!
I am excited for Pueblo! The Lord knows where I need to be way better than I do, so I will go where He wants me to go! I know that He lives and that he is aware of each one of us! I am so incredibly grateful for his loving guidance!
Have a wonderful week!!!! I miss you all and love you! Katie let me know this week that I have 255 days left! hahahha! Thanks for keeping track kato bug!
If you know me well, you know that I really don't like change... especially when I have to leave something that I love. Leaving Sister Brown was one of the hardest things.. on our last week together, we pushed our beds together and ate popcorn in bed as we fell asleep.. I love her forever! I was really nervous for transfers cause the Springs is all that I have ever known.. I really didn't know what to expect coming to Pueblo West but it has exceeded my expectations 100%!
Sister Price is my new companion. WE ARE THE SAME PERSON! I love her to pieces! She is from Pocatello, ID! She is a dancer and loved to paint and doodle and design just like me! She wants to to medical cosmetics as a career and so she is getting me all informed with skincare and stuff! I love it! We love to workout together and get super sore! It is so much fun! We both did a lot of ballet growing up so we have that in common and our personalities are super similar. I love her so much! She even taught me how to make popcorn on the stove this week and we were laughing so hard cause the popped kernals kept going everywhere! hahah!
We live with the Jensen's! FINALLY LIVING WITH MEMBERS! They are a sweet old couple and we have their basement all to ourselves. I really love living with them! I feel so safe and they feel like grandparents to me already!
My first night in Pueblo West 1st ward, we went to mutual and got to help with a "Battle of the Sexes" tournament! It was really fun! The youth group is HUGE!!! We had to have the guys pluck out an eyebrow hair and so many of them just grabbed a huge clump with the tweezers and yanked!!! OUCH! It looked so painful and then they were left with a little bald patch of eyebrow! Sister Price and I were dying!!!! It was so funny!
Throughout our week we saw so many miracles!
We visited a woman named Sister Howells and also her daughter named Pearle! We taught them the Plan of Salvation and Sister Howells told us how she has been studying Paganism as well as Christianity for most of her life. She is a less-active member of the church so we were trying to help her recapture the feeling that she had when she was baptized! She promised to pray about what direction to take, so we felt good about that!
The next time that we met with Sister Howells, she told us that she had big news. She said that she had prayed to know what to do and if Christianity was the right way.. then, later on, as she was browsing through social media, she read a quote that said.. "If you chase two rabbits, you will catch neither." She took that as a sign from God that if she continues to study both religions that she will never fully understand either. She then said that she knows that Mormonism is for her and that she wants to give up Paganism for good! We were just mind blown! It was so amazing!! She fed us dinner that night and made us a Mediterranean dish with lamb. FIRST TIME EATING LAMB PEOPLE! Then she had french bread with olive oil that was super fancy olive oil in all different flavors! I felt so pampered!
We got to go to the nursing home on that same day and we talked to a bunch of the old ladies there. One of then is named Leeta and she is a 99 year old ANGEL! I adore her! We did a puzzle with her and it was so much fun!
Another amazing experience that we had this week was with the Redmond family. They are a family of all girls and we were able to go over to their home for a lesson. We planned to teach the Restoration but when we got there the conversation took a very different turn. The girls began to ask deep doctrine questions about Joseph Smith and they got very heated and concerned to know the answers. We stayed calm and bore simple testimony. The mother was stirred to tears as the Spirit spoke to her and the girls were silenced by the answers that we presented. We simply bore testimony of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and asked them to pray to know if they have a loving Heavenly Father and Savior. They said they would and each one of them thanked us for the spirit that they felt. I was so moved and felt so grateful to have been an instrument in the Lord's hands during that lesson. I felt the Spirit teaching through me and felt so much gratitude that the Lord trusted me. HUGE TESTIMONY BUILDER!
We got a new investigator this week and a new less active so that was very exciting! I can't wait to see where it goes!!!
Another cool experience was our Blitz after district meeting. (A blitz is a short period of prayerful tracting that is in one of the areas in our district.) We went to the Elder's area and I got to go with Sister Bailey who is still in training:) She is so sweet! We set goals as a district and then all went out for an hour! Sister Bailey and I went down one street and knocked on maybe 10 doors. We talked to only 6 people but gave away 3 Book of Mormons!!! 50%! Not too shabby! I felt so grateful that God gave us those miracles! One of the guys we talked to was named Jeff and when he opened his mouth to talk, he sounded just like Tom Selleck!!!!! AH! So I was in heaven! After a while, he even started to look like him! It was just such a good experience tracting!
Saturday was a great day! We did yard work for Sister Howells! We planted flowers for her and it was so much fun! It made me miss my daddy and reminded me of all the many many times that we would go out to do yard work in the mornings. I am now so grateful that you made me work hard dad! Thank you! When the job was finished she took us to get Fu and Boba at an asian place! It was really fun!
My first Sunday was amazing! This ward is so missionary minded! I feel so blessed! I know that this is exactly where I need to be!!! I can't wait for what is to come! I see so many miracles in the future for this area!
Oh and I thought you all might want to know that I have a dog!!!!! Her name is Journey and we LOVE her! She is actually the Jensen's dog but I am just pretending that she is mine! I love her so much!
I want you all to know that I have a testimony of this work and of this great gospel! I am so grateful for all that I am learning here in Pueblo West Colorado! I know that Jesus Christ lives and that he loves each one of us! He is the reason that we have joy and that we can overcome sorrow! I learned a really great lesson this week in Sacrament meeting that I want to share with you. The speaker said. "unbelief stops revelation!" I thought that was so true! We have the ability to receive personal revelation for ourselves and the only thing that will stop that from happening is our own unbelief. So let's all strive to grow in faith and seek for revelation. That is literally my goal in life because I know that if He is always guiding me, I will never be lost or afraid. I love you all! You are so important to me!!!!
Guys I am so excited! I finally did it! I cut bangs! I am so happy!
This week was a great one!
On Wednesday, Sister Price had a dentist appointment at 7:30 in the AM and so I got to go and comfort her, she was so worried cause they didn't have laughing gas! But she was a champ!!!! She got 5 whole cavities filled!!!!!! hahaha just another reason why we are the exact same person! That day, we also had an amazing lesson with the Alvey family! They are incredible! The husband is not a member so we have been teaching him and we had an incredibly powerful lesson with them this week! It was amazing, he has such real intent and is truly desiring to know for himself if the Book of Mormon is true! I am so excited for their family! We also were able to teach Sister Howells! She is amazing! We taught her the Gospel of Jesus Christ lesson and she asked us if we would be willing to come over and help her burn her old Pagan spell books! We said HECK YA! So we are excited to do that later on, probably next week! Another cool thing happened when we were with Sister Howells too! So we showed her the video, "The Savior Understands Me" by Elder Holland and immediately after the video ended, she copied it and pasted it to 4 different people on Facebook! It was so crazy cool to see her acting upon spiritual promptings! I LOVE HER!
Thursday was THE BEST! My little bro is going to the Trinidad, Port of Spain mission! I couldn't be happier for him! He leaves August! AHHHH! I am so sad that I won't see him for 3 years! This is crazy! When I found out, I pushed Sister Price cause I got so excited and she fell on the floor! hahahah! It was hilarious! I was like crying and laughing and screaming all at the same time! Thursday was also great cause we got to teach Seminary! It was so fun! We taught from Ether 1 and talked about Prayer! Afterwards, so many students thanked us for the prayer challenges that we extended to them and were really excited to grow in their relationship with God! They are all at the age to serve missions so I was very happy that we got to teach them and hopefully get them excited for their missions! That night, we went to a place called Adams Ribs with a member. BIG MISTAKE! if you ever go to Pueblo West Colorado, don't eat at Adam's ribs! Oh man, I know that I am kinda a Rib snob but these ribs were meatless and dry.... And you wouldn't believe what they did to my stomach! hahahahah.... bad time.. But it was a funny memory!
Friday!!! 4/20 in CO! hahahah it was a great! We had district meeting and then went to Chick fil a! My fav! The meeting was very spiritual and uplifting! After all of this, we went to help a non-member woman move into a home in our area! Her name is Judy! She is a doll! She was so kinda and gracious. We gave her a Book of Mormon and she told us that her husband and her would like for us to teach them the lessons!!!!! We taught them a brief lesson right then and there!!!! 2 NEW INVESTIGATORS! It was so awesome! MIRACLES! My favorite thing that happened while moving was a quote from Elder Rojas who is from Mexico.. He said, "Sister Price, where is your buff?" as Sister P. attempted to carry a couch inside with me! hahhaha I laughed so hard! We got to have another lesson with day too with just Sister Alvey! We taught her a lesson about the Brother of Jared and brought a member that was perfect fellowship for her! It was such a powerful lesson!
So Friday night at 2:30 in the morning, I rolled over and slid my hand under my pillow to get all comfy and cozy and my hand touched something odd.. I freaked out! It truly felt like a little bony hand! I instantly flipped on the light and lifted up my pillow to find a little wooden man with a beard and a cowboy hat. It was about 6 inches long and insanely creepy! I was so scared that I tossed it across the room! I said a prayer and tried to sleep.. but I couldn't. All I could think was, "how did that little wooden mad get under my pillow," and "if Sis P. didn't put it there I am going to flip!" I laid in my bed frozen for about an hour and then I decided to wake Sister Price. I flipped on the light and shook her until she woke up. She woke, kicking and screaming saying, "what's wrong, are you okay?" to which I replied, "Do you know about the little wooden man?" she instantly bust up laughing! I was so confused and she instantly cracked up! She admitted that she put the little man under my pillow last night! Then she started laughing so hard and I just sat on my bed all angry! hahahhaha! Keep in mind that it is about 3:30by now.. She totally deserved to get woken up though! I told her the whole story and she just laughed and laughed! hahah! I didn't take a picture of the little wooden man but I will, and then I will send it next week!
So Saturday, we got to drive up to the Springs with Sister Howells and we went to Natalie's baptism, she is a little girl that I taught when I was in Fountain! She was so happy that I came! It was awesome to see her on her special day! She looked like an angel! And I got to see SISTER BROWN!!!!!!!!! Ah I love her! After the baptism, Sis Howells took us to get some Mediterranean food! It was not too bad.. and then that night we had a lesson with Sister Howells and she had us for dinner so it was a Sister Howells Day! We had a bomb lesson that was so powerful and then she taught us how to make this really yummy pasta! YUM!
Sunday was amazing! I was asked to share my testimony, we had 2 less-actives in church! Which is a lot for Pueblo West! And we were able to teach Gospel Principles and also Miamaids! Great great day! Dinner was awesome on Sunday! It was with the Jones Family and the dad reminded me so much of Uncle Todd! I was rolling! He was hilarious! Then we had a really great testimony meeting with them and their family! Very Powerful!
Pueblo has been very bipolar this week! Cold one day and hot the next! But I love it so much! It is exactly where I need to be! Sister Price is AMAZING! She is going to be my best friend for life! I promise! We have EVERYTHING in common! I love her so much!
And finally.... TODAY I GOT BANGS!!!!!!!!!! SO FUN!!!!!! I will send pictures!!!!!! I LOVE THEM!
I love you all so much! I want to leave you with my testimony of this great gospel! It is true! The tomb is empty!
until next week!
Prepare yourself, because this week was THE WEEK OF MIRACLES! God is SO good!
This week we got smartphones! We drove up to the Springs on Tuesday and got them all set up! This also means that we are now going to begin using Facebook! Maybe you already saw my first post!! It honestly has kind of been strange.. I feel like I am breaking every rule in the book.. But this is what the Lord has commanded and I know that it will be a way for us to further the work!
Tuesday, we also were able to go to the Alvey's home and we watched the Restoration with them! They really enjoyed it and Brother Alvey (the investigator) was able to have a lot of his questions answered. The Spirit was definitely there and their family is progressing for sure! We are so excited!
Wednesday started off rocky... our alarm didn't go off cause we set the alarm on our new smartphones and they decided to randomly turn off in the middle of the night.. so we were late to teach Seminary. We got there about 20 mins late but were still able to teach a great lesson about Mormon Ch 9 to the kids! We then had a lesson with Sister Howells and she showed us all of the new dresses that she has bought for church! She showed us one in particular and called it "her favorite"! It was a black dress, kinds silky like, that was covered in floral print and swans on the bottom of the hem. Remember this little detail about the dress being her favorite, cause it will be important for later on in this email..Wednesday night, we went to the Redmonds and showed them the Restoration movie as well! They were able to feel the Spirit and have their questions answered as well! It was awesome! I love getting close to all of the members here! One of the Redmond girls looks just like Katie! It is crazy how similar they are and so every time I see her I give her a huge hug and I feel like I am hugging my little Sister! Awww I just love you Kate!
On Thursday, Sister Price and I woke up real early again to teach more seminary! It went really well! We taught about the Brother of Jared and how God answered his prayers in 3 different ways. As he was building the barges, the Brother of Jared had three questions that he took to the Lord. The first was, "How will we breathe?" the second was, "How will we have light?" and the third is, "How will we steer?" Here is how the Lord answered each question....
1. Breathe: The Lord gave the Brother of Jared a very straight forward answer. He told him to cut holes in the top and bottom of the barges in order to have air. The Lord gave him the answer in it's entirety.
2. Light: The Lord said to the Brother of Jared, "What will you do?" he asked him to come up with his own solution to the issue! The Lord also gave him some guidance by telling him that he could have no windows and no fire. The Brother of Jared was then left on his own to come up with a solution to bring to the Lord.
3. Steer: The Lord said, "Trust me!" he told the Brother of Jared that he would guide them in their barges to the Promised Land.
So when The Brother of Jared finally came up with his solution about light. He brought the Lord 16 stones and asked the Lord to touch them and give them light. I love that the Lord took his simple idea and made it great!
The way the Lord answered the Brother of Jared's prayers in also how he answers ours. Sometimes he will give us a straight forward answer.. most often not.. A lot of the time he asks us to just trust him.. But I think the most common way that our prayers are answered is when the Lord says, "Come up with a solution of your own and then come to me and I will make it great!"
So Yea! This is what we taught in Seminary this week! Fun huh?!
When we got home from seminary, Sister Price and I decided to make up a dance! So we did! It is not finished but I will have to send it to you! It was so fun for us to do it for exercise that morning! I have missed dancing so much! We just feel so lucky to have a huge basement all to ourselves!!! We also got to help Sister James in our ward do some spring cleaning on Thursday and then she made us an awesome lunch! It is just the little things throughout the week that make me so happy! That night, Brother Jensen, the member we live with, showed us how to work our Yoga video and he did Yoga with us for about 30 seconds! Sister Price and I both started laughing uncontrollably and then he got embarrassed and stopped but it was so funny!! We love the Jensen's! They are so special to us!
Friday was awesome! We had district meeting and then went to lunch at this place called Marie's! It is DANG GOOD! I can't wait to take all of you there! After all of that we did a district blitz, a blitz is where we set specific finding goals and then all go find people for an hour and come back and report! It went great!!!! We then taught Vanessa today and she is getting her patriarchal blessing! It is really happening! The spirit in the lesson was so strong and Vanessa was just glowing! After the lesson, Vanessa took us downstairs with her little girl and showed us her foster kittens! 5 of them! They were black with white feet and it kinda looked like they were wearing socks. We got to play with them for a minute! I'll send pics!
Here is a huge miracle from this week!!!! We went to dinner Friday night with the Hunter family and they had invited a non-member friend and his kids to come to dinner as well! We had a great dinner with the two families and then we were able to teach Matt, the friend, a lesson! It was so powerful! We all bore testimony and then we invited Matt to take the lessons and he accepted! It was so amazing! God just placed him right in our hands! I truly have such a strong testimony of member missionary work! SO NEW INVESTIGATOR!!!!!
That night, we drove an hour to Canon City and began exchanges with the Sisters there! I was with Sister McQuarrie!! And just you wait... this exchange was AMAZING!
Okay, so the day of the exchange comes, Sister McQuarrie and I do studies and get all ready for our day! Around 11, we headed out to do a district Blitz with the other Canon City missionaries. When we got to the park where we had planned to meet, the Elders had started Park contacting, so decided to do the same! The first person we talked to is Stephen. He was way interested! We gave him a Book of Mormon, taught about the Restoration and invited him to meet with us again! He told us that he is from Denver but that he wants to meet with the missionaries up there! MIRACLE! We only had time to talk to one other person after that! Her name was Ashley! She was a middle aged lady who was at the park with her grandkids! We told her about our unique message to the world and she lit up! It seemed to be exactly what she wanted to hear! We taught her the Restoration and gave her a Book of Mormon. She thanked us again and again for the additional information about Jesus Christ. She accepted the invitation to meet with us again and as we left her, she was already reading the Book of Mormon! AMAZING!!!! So many miracles! After all of that, we had 3 other wonderful lessons! The spirit was so present throughout the entire day! After one of the lessons, we felt prompted to knock on a less-active man's door.. he lived right next door to the other appointment! We knocked and he answered to tell us that he was really struggling. We shared a scripture with him and then asked him if he would be interested in receiving a priesthood blessing. He said yes! So we called Brother Bailey (a member of the Canon City ward) and he came right over in about 5 minutes. I learned a very valuable lesson from Brother Bailey that day! As Brother Bailey came in and sat with this less-active man, the Spirit was incredible! Brother Bailey didn't stumble once, he didn't question what to say. he said EXACTLY what the spirit wanted him to. He helped this man through each one of him struggles and gave him courage and a friend to rely on! It was like nothing I have ever seen! This man clearly had the spirit with him. It was so powerful! As he then gave him a blessing, I began to cry. I could really understand how a priesthood blessing is a direct channel from the priesthood holder to God. After this experience, we walked outside with Brother Bailey and I said, "Can I ask you a question?" he responded, "yes!" I then said, "What do you do to have the Spirit with you so strong?" He thought for a moment and then responded, "Desire! You have to really want it and do everything in your power to live worthy to have it!" I was amazed and thanked him for the amazing experience that I had just witnessed! I can't fully explain to you how much that day changed me! I don't think I can even properly use words to describe it.. so I';m sorry for this kinda confusing paragraph! hahaha hopefully you can imagine how wonderful it was!
Okay you ready!!! Here is the day of all the miracles! SUNDAY!
Miracle #1: this one happened Saturday to Sister Price but I still want to share it!!! Cause I think it is cool! So Sister Price and Sister Sutherland visited Sister Howells while on exchanges. They taught the Word of Wisdom and afterwards, Sister Howells said, "come with me!" She took them into her kitchen and opened up her tea drawer! "Throw away all the bad stuff!" she said. Then the Sisters proceeded to toss all of the bad teas that are against the Word of Wisdom. How cool is that?!?!
Miracle #2: Vanessa and Eleanor came to church! Eleanor went to Nursery and Vanessa stayed for the first two hours! It was amazing! Small miracle, but never the less, a miracle!
Miracle #3: Sister Howells came to church and brought her daughter Pearle and her grandbaby Jackson! They stayed all 3 hours and Pearle loved it! She felt so welcomed and happy! This was something that we have been waiting for for weeks!!!!!
Miracle #4: Last week, a woman named Julia, from Ukraine, came to church with her Mother-in-law who is a member. Julia is not a member. This week, Julia came all alone with her little 1 and a half year old son. She stayed all three hours and took notes and followed along with her ipad! She connected with people and we got a return appointment with her for next Sunday before church because Sunday is her only day off! How amazing is that?!?!?! NEW INVESTIGATOR!
Miracle #5: This one comes with a backstory... So last week at church, a lady in our ward told everyone in Relief Society about a family that is in need of help in our area.. The family is on the verge of being homeless and so we thought of some ways of how we could help them.. Well, this Sunday, the Owens family showed up to church! They came in and sat down with their 4 children and listened intently throughout Sacrament meeting. After the meeting, we met them and they wanted to stay for the other classes! We took the older boys (5 and 6) to primary and they sat there very well behaved and respectful! We took the little girl to Nursery and she played the entire time with all the other kids! The parents came to classes with us and brought their little baby. They participated in lessons and were greeted by so many ward members! At the end of the block, we rounded up their family and we taught them a brief Restoration lesson in about 2 mins! We asked them if they would like to meet with us to learn more! They accepted and we set an appointment up with their family right then and there! A member standing nearby then invited them to do the missionary lessons in their home! It was amazing! We walked outside with the family and we gave each one of them their own Book of Mormon! The children held those books like they were made of gold! We shared 3 Nephi 11: 13-14 with them! "And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto them saying: Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel, and the God of the whole Earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world." We taught them about how the Book of Mormon includes when Christ ministers to the people in the Americas! Right as we said this the father said, "You believe that Christ appeared in America? So do I!" It was amazing! This family is so special! They are prepared and just need something in life to help lift them up. SUCH A MIRACLE! They literally were just brought to us! I can't wait to meet with them again!!!
Miracle #6: When we walked back into the church after saying goodbye to the Owens, we got a call from the University Sisters in Pueblo. They said, "Hey we had a woman come to church today who is not a member. She has a husband and children and wants to learn more about the gospel! She is in your area so here is her info! Give her a call!" WHAT THE??!?! Sister Price and I were speechless!
Miracle #7: We had a lesson with the Mitchell fam after church and out of no where the father says... "I want to work towards being sealed in the temple!!!!" WHAT?!? OKAY!! We were so excited!
Miracle #8: This miracle was my favorite because I learned such a valuable lesson about Charity and love. So in church, Sister Howells (a returning member) leaned over to me in Gospel Principles class and said, "I need you and Sister Price to stop by my house after church, I have something for you!" So after our meetings we went to Sister Howells house and she walked us back to her closet. (Remember the lady with the favorite dress?) She then said, "You know Vanessa?" we said "Yes." (Vanessa is also someone we teach who was in class today with Sister Howells!) Sister Howells then said, "Well, the spirit told me that Vanessa needs to know that she is loved and that I should give her my new favorite dress." She wrapped the dress up in a box with some tissue paper and handed the box to us. She gave us instructions to not tell Vanessa who gave the dress but to just say, "Heavenly Father loves you and is so happy that you are coming back to church! He wants you to know that you are beautiful!" As sister Howells told us this, we were moved to tears! We were so touched! We took the box and went to Vanessa's! She was shocked that someone had thought of her! This small act of kindness was incredible to me! Sister Howells gave her brand new, favorite dress to a sweet sister because the Spirit told her that she needed it! That is pure charity! SUCH A MIRACLE!
When we got home from an awesome dinner and day, I got a call from Sister McQuarrie. She said that Brother Bailey came to them on Sunday and said, "The Spirit told me that I should have said more in answer to Sister Morgan's question.. So here is a 4 pg answer to her question. can you get it to her?" When I heard this is got so excited!!! This day was just the greatest!!!! It was beyond anything I could have imagined! I know that God was the one who made it happen! Sister Price and I were simply his instruments! I am so grateful that he trusted us enough to bring us so many miracles!
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is without a doubt true! I love being His servant!
I love you all! Have an amazing week!!!!
Love, Sister Morgan
